Greg Hire
Greg has spent the last ten years of his life playing professional basketball with the Perth Wildcats and upon his recent retirement has commenced playing basketball for Australia in 3x3 Basketball. Greg founded A Stitch in Time in 2014 on the back of wanting to become a presence in landscape of Mental Health in Western Australia.
My Story
Inspired by his own experiences Greg launched A Stitch in Time initially to providing funding and support for another Mental Health organisation. His workshops centre around mentoring looking at resilience and wellbeing and stems for his own background as a troubled teen. Greg has developed and facilitated programs for over 40 schools over Western Australia. Greg has been fortunate enough to have worked in the Kimberley and the Pilbara regions and his passion in working with these communities forms a huge basis of his presentations. Greg has been asked to present to sporting teams across various sporting codes and has launched Mental Health Initiatives with Basketball WA and the National Basketball League
Outside of schools and sport, Greg has presented to over 80 corporate groups as a keynote speaker, where he teaches the same principles as he does when he is working with the kids in schools across WA.
His favourite past time is spending time with his partner Ainsleigh and their two children, Sullivan and Finley.
Greg was recognised for his work in the community by being awarded the Western Australian of the Year in the Youth Category in 2018
